Why a membrane is needed

Cotton can absorb liquid. A waterproof barrier prevents it from continuing into the mattress, while the face fabric influences touch and feel.

Look for membrane disclosure, where the barrier extends, wash/dry limits and certification claims that apply to the exact component.

The brand currently describes its TPU as non-GMO, bio-based and corn-starch-derived, and publishes OEKO-TEX/GOTS-related claims for that component.

Bio-based feedstock does not turn TPU into cotton or wool. Shoppers wanting no polymer membrane should make that a separate requirement.
